Ingram visiting today
Patrick Ingram has been trying to get to Iowa City for a few weeks. On Monday afternoon, he will finally get a closer look at the University of Iowa as he makes an unofficial visit to the campus. The 2012 combo guard says he is excited to make the trip and learn more about the Iowa Basketball program.
"I've wanted to get there for a while," Ingram said Sunday evening. "My school starts on Wednesday, so this will be an unofficial visit. I'm looking forward to getting there Monday afternoon."
The 6-foot-2 guard from Indiana has spoken to the Iowa coaches since they extended a scholarship offer this summer, but he is looking forward to meeting them face to face and finding out more about what role they see him filling if he chooses the Hawkeyes.
"I've talked to a couple of the coaches, but I haven't met them in person yet, so I am looking forward to that," he said. "I want to learn a little bit more about Iowa and the coaching staff and the program. I want to find out more about what my role will be and how many minutes I might get if I go there."
Last week, Ingram made a tour of two other schools he has under consideration, Loyola and St. Louis University. He made the trip to Loyola earlier in the week, shortly after his AAU teammate Nick Osborne committed there.
"He (Osborne) has been working on me to go to Loyola. It does impact me a bit, but it doesn't. I like playing with him on my AAU team, but he knows I have to make my own decision."
On Friday, Ingram headed to St. Louis University and watched the team practice and spent time with the coaches.
Following the Iowa visit on Monday, Ingram still plans to make a decision shortly. He said Sunday evening that he plans on making his college choice either later this week or early next week.
