Freshmen making an impact
Kirk Ferentz said before the season that if the Iowa Football team was going to have success that young players would have to step up to the challenge. Thus far, ten true freshmen have stepped up for the Hawkeyes and earned some playing time this year.
During the tenure of Kirk Ferentz, the playing of true freshmen has been a growing trend. Gone are the days when a freshmen class gets the opportunity to spend their first year on campus on the sidelines. These days it's about playing on offense, defense, and especially special teams. This past weekend, two more freshmen took off their redshirts in the fourth quarter and entered the fray.
What's the outlook moving forward for these freshmen that have played and is Ferentz done dipping into his first year class? We take a look at each member of the class.
