Rucker checks out Iowa
Minnesota defensive back Malik Rucker is off to a great start in the recruiting process with over a dozen scholarship offers to his name by early April. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound Rucker was confident going in that he would have some opportunities to play Division I football, but admits that even he has been surprised by all of the interest.
"I think I have 15 or 16 offers now," said Rucker. "Honestly, it's been a little surprising. I mean I knew I was going to get some offers, but I didn't know that I was going to get this many this early."
Iowa was the first BCS conference school to offer Rucker and had him back on campus this past weekend for an unofficial visit. The three-star prospect, who also visited Iowa City last month, had a chance to watch the Hawkeyes at work in spring practice this time around.
"It went well," Rucker said. "I got to get out there and watch them practice and see how the coaches coach their players. It was nice."
