Big DT visits Iowa
The Iowa Hawkeyes extended a scholarship offer to Belleville, IL defensive tackle Merrick Jackson back in February and have been recruiting him heavily ever since. This past weekend, the 6-foot-2, 320-pound Jackson had a chance to make his first visit to Iowa City to watch the Hawkeyes in their spring scrimmage on Saturday.
"I went up to Iowa with Erik Furmanek," said Jackson. "We left at around 4 AM on Saturday morning and got there about 9 AM. First, we talked to Coach Johnson for a while and then went on a tour of the facilities. During the tour, they pulled me aside and I got to meet with Coach Ferentz one on one. After that, we ate and then went over to watch the scrimmage."
"After the scrimmage, Coach Johnson had told us that he could take us on a tour of the campus afterwards, so we went on the campus tour with him and then went home," he continued. "It was a good visit."
