In our weekly feature, the Recruiting Roundup, we take a look at all the latest news and notes in the world of Iowa football recruiting. That includes updates on potential targets, official visits, new scholarship offers, upcoming decisions, and much more.
With the Hawkeyes on their bye week, the Iowa coaching staff was able to spend part of their time recruiting last week and that included head coach Kirk Ferentz, who went to a local eight-man game (LINK). That was to see Springville senior Jake Hulett, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound prospect who plays linebacker, defensive end, tight end, and fullback in high school. Hulett has attended Iowa's camp each of the last two years and has stayed in contact with assistant coach Reese Morgan throughout the recruiting process. The Hawkeyes are looking at him mostly on the defensive side of the ball, either at linebacker or defensive end, and in the game that Ferentz saw on Friday, the senior finished with 9 tackles, 4 TFL, and 2.5 sacks plus 46 yards rushing and 54 yards receiving with a pair of touchdowns on offense. Hulett is still looking for his first scholarship offer, but both Iowa and Iowa State have requested more film in recent weeks as they continue to evaluate him closely and he could be a name to watch down the stretch.
Last, but not least, don't forget you can always stay up to date on how Iowa's commits are doing on the field this season in our weekly following the future update.
