Hawkeye Report Card

Iowa traveled to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan Saturday, looking to put an end to a four-game losing streak. The Hawkeyes tried to keep up, but were unable to stop the bleeding as Michigan (8-3, 6-1 Big Ten) handed Iowa (4-7, 2-5) a 42-17 loss, officially eliminating the Hawkeyes from postseason play. We will now take a look back and grade Iowa's performance.

Quarterback

With the type of season James Vandenberg has gone through, his performance against Michigan stands out as one of his best so far in 2012. No, he didn't put up big numbers, but he was efficient and was much more accurate than he has been at times this season. He still was jumpy in the pocket and locked on to receivers, things he has had issues with, but it's hard to expect a sudden change this late in the season. Vandenberg also did a good job running the ball when he had to, though he did choose to scramble rather than throw it into the end zone as the first half expired. Overall, Vandenberg was 19 of 26 for 181 yards and two touchdowns. He also picked up 35 yards on eight carries. Grade: D+
