Remaining Needs
Blair Sanderson
HawkeyeReport.com As we head into the holidays, Iowa's recruiting class is nearly full with 16 verbal commitments, but there are still a few key spots left to fill. In this feature, we take a look at the remaining needs for the Hawkeyes, the prospects they are still recruiting at each position and their chances of landing them, plus a whole lot more.
DEFENSIVE BACK
Projected Numbers: 3-4 Current Commits: 2
Analysis: Defensive back moved back up towards the top of the priority list again this past week when four-star safety Delano Hill decommitted and flipped to Michigan. With Hill projected at free safety, a big need for the Hawkeyes this year, the loss hurts even worse not to mention the fact he was Iowa's highest ranked recruit. Now, the coaching staff will be looking for a replacement at safety and may still take another cornerback as well.
Prospects still on the board: Isaiah Gourdine, Trev Hadachek, and DeJuan Rogers, among others.
LINEBACKER
Projected Numbers: 3-4 Current Commits: 2
Analysis: The Hawkeyes have two linebacker commits in John Kenny and Trevon Young, but it is likely that Young ends up at defensive end in college so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them go after two more players at the position this year. Currently, the top two targets are Chicago native Reggie Spearman and Jake Roh from Arizona. The coaching staff has also stayed in touch with several other recruits, including Lavonte Robinson who visited this month, should their top two decide to go elsewhere. Prospects still on the board: Reggie Spearman, Jake Roh, Lavonte Robinson, Josey Jewell, and Dashawn Williams, among others.
