Sooners Can't Pass on Hammad
This past fall Oklahoma stopped by Irving, Texas and got an up close look at three-star offensive guard and Baylor commitment, Rami Hammad (pronounced Rah-Me Huh-Maud). What they saw at the time was an offensive guard prospect and he didn't seem to fit their needs at the time, which he was told were at offensive tackle.
This past weekend Hammad participated in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl and put on a stellar performance at tackle, not guard. Since returning home Hammad's phone has been ringing off the hook from coaches around the country expressing renewed, or simply new, interest. In comes Oklahoma again and this time they weren't worried about what position he played, they just wanted to extend an offer.
"Today they said 'we really want you, we don't care what position you play. Whatever position you want you can play. Just give us a look," Hammad said summarizing his phone call with running backs coach, Cale Gundy.
