Weekend Visitors Preview

With national signing day just around the corner, the Iowa Hawkeyes have one last weekend to host recruits. Several of the players headed to Iowa City this weekend are preferred walk-on prospects, but a few are still in the mix for an offer and one just recently picked one up. In this update, we preview the recruits that are visiting this week, the chances the Hawkeyes have of landing them, and much more.

Starting with the recruit that was just recently offered, Texas native Anjeus Jones is making his official visit to Iowa this weekend. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound wide receiver was originally scheduled to visit last weekend, but ended up cancelling the trip because he did not have an offer from the Hawkeyes at the time and did not want to risk losing his scholarship to Colorado State, which is where he is currently committed. Then, this Tuesday the Iowa coaching staff came through with an offer for Jones after the receiver at the top of their board, Brian Lemelle, committed to Connecticut. Jones also picked up an offer from Texas Tech this week, but decided to visit Iowa City instead of Lubbock. Once he gets home from the Iowa visit, the two-star prospect plans to make a decision among his three finalists, which are Iowa, Texas Tech, and Colorado State. A good visit this weekend should put the Hawkeyes in prime position to land Jones, who had 23 catches for 390 yards and seven touchdowns his senior year at South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, TX.=
