Florida QB camps at Iowa
Florida quarterback Michael Scarnecchia is picking up frequent flyer miles traveling around the country to attend camps at some of the schools showing him the most interest. On Monday, the 6-foot-3, 186-pound Scarnecchia was in Iowa City for a one-day camp with the Hawkeyes, who have been in contact with the Class of 2014 prospect ever since D.J. Hernandez joined the coaching staff in January.
"Coach Hernandez was a graduate assistant at Miami last year and now he's the tight ends coach at Iowa," said Scarnecchia. "At one point, Miami was recruiting me last year, but then they got a new offensive coordinator and went in another direction. Anyway, when Coach Hernandez moved to Iowa, he kind of took me with him and we've been in contact ever since then."
As a junior, Scarnecchia completed 101 of 156 pass attempts for 1,553 yards and 18 touchdowns in leading Fleming Island High School to a 7-3 record in his first year as a starter.
