Midweek Thoughts: Coach K, Karma, Thornton, & more

Warchant.com Just once, I'd love to see it happen. Doesn't have to be this Sunday, although I know a lot of people on this campus would love to see it then. Doesn't even have to be this season.
But just one time I'd like to see Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski on the losing end of an Atlantic Coast Conference officiating fiasco.
I want to read the memo that gets written on official ACC stationary that says, "Well, our game officials really messed one up last night -- and we apologize to Duke for the unfortunate mistake."
I want to see the league office suspend an officiating crew for actions that cost Duke a win. It would be even sweeter, to me anyway, if those officiating mishaps took place in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Because, just once, it would be nice for Krzyzewski and the entire Duke program to see how the rest of the schools in this league feel.
Clemson is but the latest team to feel the sting of ACC officiating.
As you probably already know, the Tigers lost a game last week when the officiating crew inexplicably put more time than they should have on the clock to allow the Blue Devils to get off what turned out to be the game-winning shot at the buzzer.
Without going into every agonizing detail, the game officials believed that a Clemson player caught an errant inbounds pass, released a 3-point shot and that the ball went through the basket all in a matter of 0.6 seconds. That mistake was addressed the day after the game when the league office admitted the referees goofed.
