Boilermakers back to work; Purdue basketball notes

Though the 2007-08 season remains months off, the Boilermaker men's basketball team has plenty going on now that school has re-convened.

First and foremost, coaches are conducting individual workouts, utilizing the two hours per week of basketball-related activity allotted to them by the NCAA this time.

The players go through workouts, four at a time, twice a week, an hour at a time.

Assistant coach Paul Lusk, who along with fellow coaches Cuonzo Martin and Rick Ray conducted three sets of workouts in succession Wednesday said that this year's workouts are especially important as Purdue welcomes seven newcomers.

Freshmen Robbie Hummel, Scott Martin, JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore and Chad Sutor and junior college transfers Nemanja Calasan and Chris Reid are using individual workouts in part to get acclimated to Purdue's way of doing things.
