Wazzu Torches Warriors In Exhib Opener

For a typical basketball program, an 80-42 victory in an exhibition game would be something to be happy about and something that showed the team was headed in the right direction. However, the 2007-08 Cougars' basketball team is not trying to be a typical basketball team.

After soundly beating the Lewis-Clark State College Warriors Sunday, forward Daven Harmeling only had one thing to say.

"We've got a long ways to come," Harmeling said. "A long, long ways … We had a lot of careless stuff tonight that needs to be cleaned up. That type of stuff always happens at the beginning of the year but at the rate it was happening tonight, it was just way too many."

The Cougars were held accountable for 18 turnovers in the game, a number higher than the team would like to see.
