After weeks of practice and workouts, Iowa welcomed the University of Northern Iowa to Kinnick Stadium on Saturday to officially kick off the 2009 college football season. Anyone expecting the Hawkeyes to cruise to victory was rudely awakened, as the Panthers stood toe-to-toe with Iowa all the way to the end. Four quarters and two blocked field goals later, the Hawkeyes emerged with a narrow 17-16 victory over their upset-minded in-state foe.
