IOWA CITY, IA - The University of Iowa announced its complete 2009-10 men's basketball schedule today.

The Hawkeyes will play 31 regular-season contests, with 22 coming against teams that advanced to postseason play a year ago. That includes 15 games, and possibly 16, vs. teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament. During the non-conference portion of the schedule Iowa will meet teams from the Big 12, ACC and Missouri Valley, along with a possible Big East opponent.

Iowa will only leave the state of Iowa once, for two games in Kansas City, during its first 14 contests. From Nov. 28 until Jan. 16, the Black and Gold will play 10 of 13 games in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Iowa's Nov. 8 exhibition game against Marian College will provide the first opportunity for fans to see the Hawkeyes in game action. Marian College is the alma mater of Graduate Manager Garrett Lickliter. Coach Todd Lickliter and the Hawkeyes will then open the regular season a week later with preliminary home games of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic against UT-San Antonio (Nov. 15) and Duquesne (Nov. 17). The Black and Gold defeated UT-San Antonio last November in Iowa City (73-67). Duquesne competed in the NIT at the end of last season.

After the two preliminary games, the Black and Gold will travel to Kansas City, MO, and play Texas (Nov. 23) and either Pittsburgh or Wichita State the next day (Nov. 24) at the Sprint Center. Texas advanced to the second round and Pittsburgh to the Elite Eight in last year's NCAA Tournament.

Iowa then returns home for a three-pack of games against: North Carolina Central (Nov. 28), Virginia Tech, a team that competed in the NIT last year, (Dec. 1) and Prairie View A&M (Dec. 5).

Two of Iowa's three in-state games will be contested on the road: Northern Iowa (Dec. 8), an NCAA Tournament participant last year, and Iowa State (Dec. 11). The Hawkeyes host Drake on Dec. 19.

Iowa's last two non-conference games will come against South Carolina State (Dec. 21) and Tennessee State (Jan. 12). The contest against Tennessee State comes during Iowa's first league "bye", four games into its conference schedule.

Iowa's conference slate was released last month. There has been one time change since that schedule was released - Iowa's home game vs. Michigan State on Jan. 9 has been moved to 4:30 p.m.

Iowa's Big Ten opener vs. Purdue Dec. 29 is its earliest conference opener since the 1952 season. That year the Hawkeyes opened with Michigan on Dec. 13 in an 18-game league schedule.

Television information for Iowa's games against Marian College, Bowling Green, Prairie View A&M, Northern Iowa and Tennessee State will be announced at a later date.
