Dahm is actually starting to remind Doodle of Wayne Fontes. Remember him as the coach of the Detroit Lions? For several years in a row, the Lions would come out of the gate slower than molasses. They'd be like 2-6 at the mid-point, and then in the last three or four weeks, they'd turn it on and squeak into the last spot of the playoffs and do just enough to save his job.
Dahm seems to be following the same pattern. Last year a late surge put them in the post-season tournament. And this year, if they can take 2 out of 3 from Purdue, they can maybe sneak into the last spot of the Big Ten Tourney. And once again, maybe do just enough to save Dahm's job.
But at some point, enough has to be enough. Then again, the Men's Track Team went 44 years between Bit Ten championships, and they haven't changed coaches in ages. So maybe we just have to stick it out with Dahm and hope that we can catch lightning in a bottle a few years here and there.
