They are finished. I will unveil as I have time. One teaser I will give right now is that this season should be the most competitive season of the Haven since the Keggy Ratings were around. The old record for teams within 100 and -100 points was 4....this year there are 7 teams within that range. Get ready for a dogfight, boyz.

Congratulations to hands21 on achieving the lowest score ever accumulated for the Keggy Ratings! He checks in at last place with a whopping score of -463.01 which broke the old record of -454.61 which was held by hands21 in 2009. Despite that doomsday prediction in 2009, that was actually hands' best year in the standings since the Keggy Ratings were developed, so there is still hope.
2009: Predicted 12th. -454.61 (Finished 6th)
2010: Predicted 3rd. 88.03 (Finished 12th)
2011: Predicted 10th. -168.94 (Finished 7th)
2012: Predicted 12th. -463.01 (???)

In 11th place comes Thumper with -241.81 points. His drafting rarely gets much love from the Keggy Ratings as they have predicted him in the bottom half every year. However, last year was the first year in the past few years that Thumper placed in the top half and proved the Ratings wrong. The ratings were unimpressed by picks such as Ike Davis and Brandon Belt which really brought down Thumper's score.

2009: Projected 11th -293.24 (Finished 11th)
2010: 9th -164.38 (10th)
2011: 7th -26.18 (4th)
2012: 11th -241.81 (???)

Posted on 3/25 3:52 PM | IP: Logged

10th place belongs to Boss with a Keggy Rating of -80.04. While 10th place may seem like yet another disrespectful prediction for Boss, it is actually the highest score he has ever received. That coupled with Boss' ability to exceed his Keggy rating fate may bode well for the Death Monkeys this season.

2009: Projected 9th -134.23 (Finished 5th)
2010: 10th -206.77 (3rd)
2011: 9th -159.57 (9th)
2012: 10th -80.04 (???)

Man the Keggy Rater really hates Boss.

Man, I could have sworn I finished upper division last year. I guess not.

Yep, the Keggy ratings don't approve of my drafting style. Until last year, I've been able to defy its predictions. I guess this year we'll get to see whether last year was an outlier or the new norm.

The Keggy ratings definitely favor proven producers over young talent

Just got done reading Mathew Berry's 100 item and this was fact #1:

1. Over the past three years, of all the players who finished in the top 10 on our Player Rater yet were drafted outside the top 40 (i.e., the players who greatly outperformed their draft slots), 73 percent of them were veterans coming off down seasons.

Would seem to lead to the idea that you are better off with proven players then young studs.

Checking in at #9 just barely in front of BOSS is Kriegz with a score of -78.24. This is the first time Kriegz has ever received a negative Keggy rating. He appeared to be on his way to an even lower score through the first half of the draft with picks that didn't get any love from the Keggy ratings such as the Darvish pick. He saved himself with picks in the later rounds, including a great keeper in Hosmer.

2009: Projected 2nd 283.54 (Finished 9th)
2010: 5th 55.29 (10th)
2011: 3rd 225.23 (6th)
2012: 9th -78.24 (???)

Frakes achieves a score of -34.84 to earn himself an 8th place spot. Congrats, dude! In fact, this is the first time frakes has scored above -100. The Adam Dunn and Chase Utley picks are what appear to have brought down his score to a negative level, as the ratings were not as bullish about either player having a big comeback season when taking into consideration the old balls.
2009: Projected 7th -107.75 (Finished 2nd)
2010: 11th -243.3 (4th)
2011: 11th -194.39(10th)
2012: 8th -34.84 (???)

The pressure of a positive showing in the Keggy rankings has never ended well for Captains Table/Shawon Dunston. My projected finish compared to actual result has been equivalent to waking up next to that vodka driven one-night stand freshman year of college.

Now at least when I finish near the bottom I can say that I was supposed to :)

And 7th place goes to.....HawkNate with a score of 26.52! Nate hasn't exceeded the preseason expectations since at least 2009, so the law of averages says that this is Nate's year to shine! The ratings thought Nate drafted pretty well, but did not appreciate his keepers as much as most other teams.

2009: Projected 3rd 245.65 (Finished 12th)
2010: 4th 60.58(6th)
2011: 8th -131.36(11th)

I'm not surprised. I wasn't happy with how I managed the middle rounds of the draft. Losing my #1 closer out of the gate hurts too. I'm planning on overhauling my draft strategy for next year.

Davis and Belt are a couple of nice breakthrough candidates, but they HAVE TO breakthrough to justify the price tag I spent on them. There's not much room for additional upside there.

Posted on 3/27 2:12 PM | IP: Logged

just read on twitter that it sounds like Belt isn't gonna make the majors again.

Posted on 3/27 4:20 PM | IP: Logged

6th place in the Keggy Ratings is DougE with a score of 53.11. Frankly, it doesn't really matter what rating he gets because he somehow always overcomes his weaknesses and ends up in the money. That's my analysis, and DougE can GFH!
2009: Projected 6th -83.2 (Finished 1st)
2010: 6th 47.95 (2nd)
2011: 4th -119.03 (3rd)
2012: 6th 53.11 (???)

Time to reveal the team that achieved 5th place in the Keggy Ratings....Sex Panther at 65.82 points! Studies on the Keggy Ratings show that they are closely accurate to Sex Panther's final placing 60% of the time, every time.
2009: Projected 10th -137.28 (Finished 8th)
2010: 8th -157.6 (7nd)
2011: 2nd 251.77 (2nd)
2012: 5th 65.82 (???)

I was going to rip on your obviously inaccurate rating system and then you have to go and drop stats like that in regards to how my team does in comparison to said "POS" rating system. Jerk.

Also, random thing that just happened...I would say your sig. file and the pic/gif contained within it are something I have looked at countless times on this board. I just had this shocking revelation...hey, wait a minute, that's NOT Payne Stewart!?! Felt I should share that.

I vow this is the year I will prove these ratings to be bogus......hopefully not by finishing 12th.

Tom Lehman is the man. A PGA superstud, some might say.

Posted on 3/28 5:31 PM | IP: Logged

Here we go- Top 4 teams! As you can tell by the teams that we haven't talked about yet, the Keggy Ratings are in agreement with most of the predictions in IOA's thread with his final question about who has the best team (except for Keggy's team which inexplicably is constantly overrated in these stupid ratings)
Anyway, 4th place belongs to....our reigning champion Reyes with a score of 98.79! Looks like it will be difficult to keep Reyes out of the money thanks to some superb keepers. The ratings were not as crazy about his pitching, but that is a stout offense.
2009: Projected 8th -112.17 (Finished 10th)
2010: 12th -248.57 (9th)
2011: 5th 44.85 (1st)
2012: 4th 98.79 (???)

Yoenis is on point. This is me officially putting Nick Swisher on the block. For those with OF deficiency I am looking for a mid level SP. I'm not attached to any of my SPs so I could package one with Swisher for an upgrade.

Landing in 3rd in the Keggy Ratings is Keggy with a score of 128.03. The ratings were quite impressed by Keggy's crop of keepers, despite IOA's claims to the contrary that they suck balls. Solid draft with bonus points to Keggy for being so damn sexy.
2009: Projected 4th 188.29 (Finished 7th)
2010: 2nd 320.10 (8th)
2011: 1st 344.13 (5th)
2012: 3rd 128.03 (???)

This leaves IOA and Pimp as the Top 2 teams. Who will reach the pinnacle of preseason success?

Here we go.....#2 in the Keggy Ratings belongs to Pimp with a score of 177.07. It took a special team to beat Pimp, considering Pimp's combination of keepers and a solid draft. And that special team is IOA with a very nice score of 348.61- which just happens to be the 2nd highest score ever accumulated in the Keggy Ratings. Pimp has finished lower than his Keggy Rating every year and IOA has finished higher than his rating every year...should be interesting to see if that changes this year!

AWE:
2009: Projected 1st 330.01 (finished 3rd)
2010: 1st 564.15 (5th)
2011: 6th -9.18 (12th)
2012: 2nd 177.07 (???)

IOA:
2009: Projected 5th 136.95 (finished 4th)
2010: 7th -115.35 (1st)
2011: 12th -295.34 (8th)
2012: 1st 348.61 (???)

From worst to first in the Keggy ratings. That's just one milestone the Hitmen plan to amass this season. We want the record for greatest Haven season ever.

Good luck to everyone.....it's gonna be a fun season regardless of any records.

The Giants finalized their roster on Wednesday. The team announced Brandon Belt, Brett Pill and Hector Sanchez made the team.

I can't imagine they'd keep Belt up with the team unless they planned to play him every day. Now if he can just keep his BABIP north of .275, I think he'll rake. This doesn't change the fact that I overpaid for him, but having Belt available definitely improves the strength of my outfield. (Well at least until Nelson Cruz's next scheduled trip to the DL.)

FYI, Thumper, in my other league (also a deep keeper league), I got Ike Davis in the 13th and Belt in the 25th. wink

No argument here. I overpaid for both. I went with my rankings and paid no attention to ADPs. Lesson learned for next year.

These would have been even more impressive had I been able to hang onto 3rd.

1. IOA: 348.61 (1st)
2. Pimp: 177.07 (2nd)
3. Keggy: 128.03 (4th)
4. Reyes: 98.79 (3rd)
5. Panther: 65.82 (6th)
6. Doug: 53.11 (5th)
7. Nate: 26.52 (11th)
8. Frakes: -34.84 (10th)
9. Kriegz: -78.24 (8th)
10. Boss: -80.04 (12th)
11. Thumper: -241.81 (9th)
