Season 3: Texas A&M (majesty95)

League Rules

  • 2-3 day advance schedule (can be extended 1-2 days with prior notice)
  • No excessive going for it on 4th down (Practice your punting and field goals)
  • No excessive use of aggressive settings (25-35% of game at most. Do not turn on and leave on. OK when losing in 4th qtr)
  • Aggressive tempo is allowed the entire game if running hurry up passing offense (real life teams do not run hurry up, running offenses)
  • No abusing money plays (Mix it up. Shouldn't run same play more than 6-8 times per game. If you find a play the AI cannot defend, don't use it. Play smart, realistic football.)
  • No running up the score (Put your backups in and chew the clock late like real life teams do)
  • Do not drop and bomb. (Dropping back 15 yards and throwing deep is not realistic. Again, play smart, realistic football)
  • Do not manipulate players to glitch AI (ie moving defenders around unnaturally)
  • Respect your fellow coaches. (Follow the rules and practice good sportsmanship. Coaches have been booted for not doing this)
  • Have fun! (That's what these games are all about)

Badgers continue on the strong recruiting trail and land 5 star #1 CB and 4 star DE while on a bye week. Wisconsin has the best strippers and blow!
Coach Luettjohann is worried about next weeks user game vs SMU, without a warm up game we aren't sure what we have in our true freshman QB. Defense is going to need to carry them through 2 quarters until we find out what we have on O.
Honey Badger up!!!

#6 Auburn (0-0) at #3 Ohio St (1-0) - blakehawk54

reef - somehow you got an FCS game even though I thought I removed them all. Just keep it somewhat realistic. Score less than 80 and don't exploit any certain play to run up stats and I'll let it go.

Good luck!

anyone got a good quarterback they would like to trade for?? the saying that goes "if you have two starting quarterbacks, you dont have a quarterback" is true! going to be a loooong season for FSU.

Badgers go down in the Texas heat 21-14. Shuffling to find a back to become the starter the Badgers O sputters leaving it up to Freshman Qb who goes 5-16 with 3 INTs. Best back goes down after scoring TD leaving the offensive cord lookin for answers. SMU offense was only containable but couldn't be stopped. SMU QB goes 22-26 for 311 yards and looking at the hiesman list.
As soon as we lost the coin toss we knew it was going to be a long night.
SMU playin with passion looks to shock the world.
Sure hope the recruits were home studying and. It watching this game.
Badgers will be sore and sour for at least a week. Not looking forward to playing the next Texas team.
Good game DVD!! Now beat everyone else.

***GAME OF THE YEAR RECAP***

In what may turn out to be the game of the year, Ohio State and Texas A&M battled it out in a 3 OT affair before deciding a winner in College Station.

The Buckeyes got out to a 10-0 lead early after an interception and a fumble threatened to do the Aggies in. However, A&M battled back and scored on consecutive TD passes to George Williams late in the second quarter to take a 14-10 halftime lead.

The third quarter saw each team utilize different strategies to try and capitalize on what they learned about the other in the first half. The two teams battled back and forth without a score through much of the second half. Finally, Ohio State put together a drive and scored on a 23-yard touchdown pass with 3:34 to go.

A&M would not be denied however, and the Aggies put together a methodical drive that saw them get to the Buckeye's nine yard line with about 45 seconds left. A&M thought about going for it on 4th and 1 but decided to play it safe and kicked the game-tying FG from 42 yards out.

Overtime saw the Buckeyes start with the ball and quickly score on a 13-yard pass. A&M answered back a few plays later on an 8-yard TD run by Michael Johnson. The Aggie offense stalled on the next series and their kicker, Christian Johnson, drilled a 52-yard FG to put A&M up 3. Ohio State had the game in their hands. A touchdown would seal the upset at rowdy Kyle Field.

The Buckeyes took a couple of shots into the end zone and just missed a couple of game ending touchdown catches. Alas, the could not convert and had to kick a 41-yard FG to tie the game.

Ohio State started with the ball in the third OT and were looking to put the pressure back on the Aggies. Fate would intervene however, as A&M picked off a Terrence Abrams pass inside the 15-yard line. A&M just pounded the ball up the middle picking up a first down on 3rd-and-one. Johnson came on for his third FG attempt of the game on the next play and the Aggies escaped with a 30-27 win in front of the home crowd.

Great game blake! An instant classic for sure!

Badgers find a W and I don't mean the one on their helmet. Starting slow at home against A weak Kansas team 14-7 when starting freshman qb goes down for game. Pitt steps in and leads the Badgers to a 59-21 win. 21-24 380 with 4 TDs and he lands himself in the starting position. Back situation still under investigation as nobody has stepped up to the challenge, could be a long year with a weak running game. Camp Randell isn't used to seein running backs tackled in the backfield.
Not looking forward to the up coming A&M visit.

Honey Badger up! Looking to move up in toughest place to play the Badgers notcha a big W against a tough Aggie team 30-7.
With new QB at the helm they seem unstoppable. Badgers switching to a pass first offense. Could move into the top 5 as Texas and OSU play. Heres looking up at you Sooners! We are comin for ya!

Posted on 4/25 7:41 PM | IP: Logged

The young Aggie offense was intimidated by the Camp Randall crowd and the defense was not able to contain an unusually balanced Wisconsin attack. Unfortunately, this Aggie team that has lost only three times in four years now looks like a 10-2 team at best. Hopefully it is enough to get them to their fifth straight BCS bowl game.

As for the league, this could be a crazy year where the #2 team is decided in the last regular season game or conference championships. We could easily have two one loss user teams going into the final week. Let's just hope no CPU teams slide by unscathed and ruin the party.

Texas was fucked by Blakehawks dial up Internet Or pulling the plug on my dominating his ass the first two games. Up 14-7 at his 5 yd line w/ 15 secs left in the half. Then up 14-0 in 2nd game in 1st quarter and would have got ball in 2nd half. Something needs to be done about shit like that. Sorry but fucking bullshit. Total momentum killer.

From the way it sounds, Blake kept getting the option to continue vs CPU which would indicate the connection issue was on your end. You can't always trust EA to give you the right info but Blake said he had his connection checked recently. It may, in fact, have been your own connection that did you in.

However, with that being said, I think that after two restarts the game should be postponed to the next day if both parties can play again then. Blake and I actually had to wait two days before we played again but no connection issues the next time. In my experience, if you get disco'd twice in a row, you are going to have a very tough time getting the game in, whether on EA's end or one of the users...

Posted on 4/27 11:57 AM | IP: Logged

I'm not sure what to make of the Aggies this year. Had it not been for five turnover and two returned for TDs we probably would have lost 21-10. The defense gave up a couple of big plays and the offense looked like a high school team. My RS Soph QB continues to throw INTs and my line only chooses to block in the first half. I have a feeling this could be a looong season.

BTW LJ, it is the Big 8 not the Big XII. We still have half of the Big XII in the SWC lol

Posted on 4/27 12:00 PM | IP: Logged

I understand the connection thing but bottom line is I was dominating his ass and was going to win both those games. Either way we ll turn our focus to OU and try beating them for 2nd time in 3 years since nobody else can do it. Just want to make clear Blake was getting his shit packed and he knew it.

BIG TEN RULES... LITTLE 8 BLOWS!
Whats OU's schedule rank this year -10??
Another BYE WEEK?? Come on Commish. 3 bye weeks in first 6 games of the season. Are you trying to cripple my recruiting or what? Did you have your eyes closed when creating schedule?

On Honey Badgers!!

Posted on 4/27 1:43 PM | IP: Logged

Hahahaha! Your funny! (not really) lol

No, I though I had the schedule set with everyone having 3 users games accept me (4) and Evan (2). I also though I got rid of the back-to-back byes. I can't 100% blame it on EA cuz it was late and I didn't recheck it before advancing (that's what screwed last year) but I'm pretty sure it got garbled on advance. At least better than the mess last year.

No biggie. Badgers are such good recruiters they don't need a game. This allows the recruits to hang out longer at the clubs poppin bottles and sniffing that powder. Currently we are looking at a potential of signing up to 7-5* recruits at this time. With several 4*s as well. If coach Luettjohann could use his recruiting work on the field we may have a chance at seeing what that title trophy looks like some year. Back to back #1 QB recruits is going to really help in the new spread offense design.

The Aggies seemed in control of 4-1 Virginia Tech. They had extended their lead to 17-0 after CB Trey Murray intercepted an option pitch and took it to the house with only 4:53 to play. All was right in College Station. Then bad things started to happen to the Aggies.

The swarming A&M defense forced a fumble when Hokie QB Chris Hall scrambled for a first down. However, Tech WR Andy Penn scooped up the loose ball and ran it 39 yards for the score. The shutout was over but A&M was getting the ball back with just 4:24 to play and up by 10.

A three-and-out gave Va Tech some life though. After completing a 3rd-and-long for a first down, the Aggies defense brought the house on the next play. For some reason, one of the CBs didn't follow his man to the opposite side of the field even though he was in man coverage. This left Howard Wheatley wide open 10 yards behind the defense. With 2:53 left on the clock and three timeouts remaining the Hokies were back in this game.

Another three-and-out gave the Hokies the ball back with plenty of time on the clock but they had used all of their timeouts. You could see the Aggie defense getting pumped up on the sideline. They wanted this win. The Hokies were no match for the motivated A&M D and three sacks and four plays later A&M got the ball back.

The Aggie offense just needed to kneel the ball three times and secure a relieving 17-14 win. The fans stormed the field and the A&M staff breathed a sigh of relief as their season and recruiting class was still intact. The #7 Aggies improved to 4-1 and their 10 recruits in attendance seemed to enjoy the close, tense game.

Badgers looking to kickoff the big ten opener tonight under the lights around 9PM. TV coverage is limited as the RED RIVER RIVALRY will be on at around the same time. I sure hope the recruits bought the Big Ten package on their satelite. Pitts is looking to move up the passing yard ranks and show the big ten the new balanced offense we bring to the table.

Posted on 4/30 4:25 PM | IP: Logged

Looks like B10 the only game in town tonight. The Red River Shootout has been delayed until tomorrow night. Apparently the Texas bus broke down in Waco. Some are speculating that Baylor had something to do with it.

Badgers escape upset attempt. Rain soak camp Randall, Pitss goes 1-7 and a INT before gettin pulled. Down 0-14 at half the Badgers get the ball and drive for a score, followed by a defensive stop and another score making it 14-14 going into the 4th. Illinois drives to the 10 yard line and Wisconsin snags a pick and attempts to take it out of the endzone being tackled at the 2 yard line. Fullback dives ahead for breathing room. Following play Wisconsins Spence rumbles for a 95 yard TD dash giving them a 21-14 lead with 3 minutes left. Badgers get the ball back again am drive to the 20 and miss a second field goal with 20 seconds on 4th down. Illinois attempts a few helpless hailmarry passes and the Badgers head to the locker room shaking their heads. Wow what a close one!

Close game! Nice comeback. Many people woulda went on tilt lol.

Just a reminder to everyone to visit the league rules again in the first post. I have noticed a few of you scoring late in games (less than 2:00) left and the game in hand. That's considered running up the score and padding stats and is not allowed. There's two reasons:

A. Some people, like myself and a few others in here, like to play realistic football and mimic real life in our play calling and strategy. We shouldn't be at a competitive disadvantage if we are running out the clock at the end of games and others are running up the score to move up the polls (not sure that really has an effect) or padding stats for awards.

B. My leagues are based around real life football and strategy. The goal is to win by outsmarting, outcoaching and outrecruiting your opponents, not finding the most holes in the AI and exploiting them or running hurry up when your already up 20 to get your QB another TD (yes, running the ball over and over trying to score is the same thing). Again, its about keeping things balanced and keeping everyone on an even playing field. If everyone is playing within the rules, then the best player and/or team will come out on top, not the best cheeser/glitcher/etc.

Everyone does a real good job for the most part. I just think with the long layoff and uber competitiveness of this league some of your minds have started to look for any edge you can find. That's fine, just find that edge in a way that doesn't go against the rules we've established.

Game on!

The Red River Rivalry will be played this evening and then we can advance. I need to get this Aggie offense going!

NOTE* - Just for clarification on the running up score/padding stats thing. I usually don't care until inside of two minutes in 4th. Its the scoring with 0:00 and 0:18 and 0:22 left in the game up by 10-14. Those should have just been kneel downs. Now, if you're up 20 with 2:30 to go and score, usually not a big deal. The only problem I'd have is if you were up 40+ and doing that. That might be excessive so should probbaly not happen. Again, just remember, WWKD laugh

5/1 9:17 PM | IP: Logged A&M struggles again, eeking out a 6 point win at Houston. The Aggies did manage to run for 200 yards but gave up over 400 yards passing. A stop on 4th and 2 at the A&M 12 yard line with 28 seconds left preserved the win for the Aggies.

Badgers survive in South Bend. 7-3 lead at half on a horrible offensive day. Notre Dame move the ball inside the 20s well but the Badger D had just enough. Badger go up 14-3 third quarter and look to get comfortable an then ND moves within 4 at 14-10. Badger then score to push a 21-10 lead and look comfortable. But once again ND drives to the 20 and settles for a fieldgoal on 4th making it 21-13. Badgers move into a 38 yard fg range. After all 3 TOs TE badgers milk every second but 9 and attempt a game clinching fg. Missin wide left. Major troubles in the kicking dept this year. With 6 seconds left the Badgwr faithful holds their breath as ND goes for a hailmarry. Sack secures the victory and again the Badgers walk away withye W. 4 road games straight is going to be near impossible with this current output. Especially a visit to the Shoe. Not so confident in a meeting with OSU at this point. Looks like OSU may very well secure a shot at the title. Badgers looking for answers and a leader.

5/3 8:27 PM | IP: Logged The Aggies were frustrated and upset going into their game with Rice. A&M channeled that aggression and used it in a 45-0 whooping of the Owls. This was the first win of more than 6 points by the Aggies since their week 1 win over Georgia Tech.

A&M coaches tried to play down the impact of the game, "No disrespect to Rice, but we need to play like this every week." said one coach. "We could be undefeated and sitting at the top of the polls if we played like this every week."

It remains to be seen if the Aggies can use this win to catapult them back into the upper echelon of teams. With several tough conference games coming up, they will need to be at the top of their game every week.

Going to need about 3-4 hour extension on advance on Sunday. I won't be back from alumni football practice until around 5 and work all day Saturday and have neighborhood house party at my home I have to entertain people. Couldn't get game in tonight as I closed and just got home. Thanks in advance

Completely understand I like to play quick as well, it helps on offense for sure. I may have a chance to play later tonight although it will be POI which is probably not a good idea. I will see what I can do. The way this season has gone I need full hand eye cordination to win these games. I have been down 10-14 in 2 games this year or only a 3 point half time lead in others.
