Woodbury talks upcoming Iowa visit

Playing on one of the better AAU teams in his age bracket, Adam Woodbury had a chance to show his skills in the month of July in front of many top college coaches. One school that was front and center for every game during the evaluation period was the Iowa Hawkeyes. The interest that the Iowa coaches showed in July will pay off in early September when the Sioux City big man will travel to Iowa City for an unofficial visit.

"I think the Iowa coaches were at every single game we played in July and I have talked to them since then. I think they are great guys," Woodbury said. "I am coming to Iowa on September 11th and I am excited to meet some of the new guys and to get to spend more time with the coaches and continue to build that relationship."

The nearly 7-foot prospect in the Class of 2012 says that in the past month he has spoken to Head Coach Fran McCaffery along with assistant coaches Andrew Francis and Kirk Speraw, who might have an upper hand with his connections to Sioux City.

"He (Speraw) went to Sioux City North and he actually went to school with my uncle and my mom knows him because she went there as well."

Iowa isn't the only school showing interest in Woodbury. The four star prospect , ranked #86 in the Class of 2012 by Rivals.com, currently holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Drake, Creighton, Utah, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, and Nevada. After the July evaluation period he added an offer from Minnesota to his list.

Woodbury says that he doesn't have any other unofficial visit set up, but he is now hearing from Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and his high schools coach says that Kansas has shown continued interest in him.

Before the unofficial visit to Iowa City on the 11th, Woodbury will start the process of open gyms in front of college coaches earlier that week. He is anxious to show the coaches what he can do on the basketball court in the open gym setting.

"It will be exciting to have the coaches there for the open gyms and hopefully I will play well in front of them."
