Guerrero visit back on

The on again, off again visit from 2011 point guard prospect Cezar Guerrero is back on again. After initially scheduling the visit, a mid-term project nearly derailed the trip to Iowa on day later, but after some juggling of his schedule, the talented point guard will now be making the trip to Iowa City.

"He is really excited that he can make the visit," said his older brother Joe, who is helping Cezar through the recruiting process.

On Tuesday it looked as if the official visit would have to be rescheduled due to the fact that his film/cinema class at St. John's Don Bosco High School would be working on a mid-term film project on Saturday morning.

But, with a little convincing from Guerrero, the trip was back on by Wednesday evening.

"He worked it out with his teacher today," his brother said. "He actually kind of begged the teacher a little bit to move the mid-term project to later this week so he could make his visit to Iowa this weekend."

This will be Guerrero's fourth official visit during the recruiting process. After verbally committing to Western Kentucky in the fall, he decided not to sign with the Hilltoppers. After a strong senior campaign where he averaged 28 points a game, the Bellflower, CA prep has seen his stock rise with many high major programs.

According to his brother, Iowa certainly raised their stock in the last two weeks, thanks to a visit to the final game of his senior season by Hawkeye Head Coach Fran McCaffery.

"The fact that he came all the way out here was big," he said. "Iowa's assistant coach (Sherman Dillard) had been out here and we have talked to Coach McCaffery on the phone. It really impressed us that he took the time to come out here."

After trips to Western Kentucky, Oklahoma, and last week to Oklahoma State, he would have one more official visit that he could take before signing in late April. However, there is a chance that after this weekend, Guerrero could be done taking visits, even with schools like Kansas trying to get involved.

"It will depend on how he feels after the visit this weekend," he brother said. "Right now he's not sure about taking another visit and it could be that he may be done taking official visits after the trip to Iowa."
