2013 BB prospect visits Iowa

The Spring Fling AAU event in Iowa City this past weekend also provides the Iowa coaches with an opportunity to have prospects stop by and visit with them while they are in town. One of the prospects who was invited to visit with Coach Fran McCaffery was 2013 big man Luke Fischer from Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-8 big man from Germantown, WI dropped by the Iowa Basketball offices on Saturday morning to meet with the coaching staff and liked what he heard.

"It was a really nice visit," Fischer said. "I got a tour of the arena and all of the new stuff that is opening up this summer. I met with Coach McCaffery, his family, and the rest of the coaching staff. It was a real good experience for me."

Iowa, along with Butler, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Indiana have shown early interest in Fischer. None of the schools have extended a scholarship offer, but the Hawkeye coaches said they will be keeping tabs on him.

"I think Iowa is definitely interested," he said. "They are going to watch me this summer. I like the coaches a lot. They are good guys and I get along with them very well. I like that they like to push the basketball and get out and run."

This past season his Germantown High School squad finished the year 22-2, averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds per game. This spring and summer he will be playing with the Wisconsin Swing AAU team on both the 16's and 17's team. Fischer says he is a big man who can run the floor and shoot the ball from the outside. One aspect of his game that he continues to work on is getting stronger, which will help his post up game.
