Big-time linebacker discusses interest in BC

Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller is home to four-star linebacker Shane Jones, one of the Midwest's top prospects and a player that Boston College would love to land.

At 6-foot-1 and 220-pounds Jones has impressive strength and athleticism. He covers ground, tackles well and could be plugged into a depth chart as an early contributor in college. He's ranked the No. 14 inside linebacker in the nation.

On April 12 he will be visiting Michigan State for a spring practice and he also plans on getting out to Pitt sometime in April.

"I'm still pretty wide open," Jones told this week. "Those are the only two visits I have planned but I'm still evaluating every school that's offered and I plan on taking my time."

Jones has 21 offers in all and that means he has his work cut out for him.

The last school he visited was Michigan State and that was for a junior day.

"It was good," he said of the school he will visit again in just over two weeks. "I loved it up there."

Jones said he hopes to at least try to visit every school that has offered. Whether that's realistic, only time will tell.

What does he think about Boston College?

"I know they've offered me and I want to say that happened about two weeks ago," Jones said.

"I talked to Coach (Sean) Devine and he told me about the offer. Last week I talked to Coach McGovern and he told me about the school and said they liked me. I think when I talked to him they were at Pro Day and that's when I caught them. They were just telling me a lot of stuff that sounded good."

Jones still has a lot to learn if the Eagles are to make a serious push.

"I don't know too much about them but I'm going to look them up here soon and get some information on them," he said.
