Woodward impresses on and off field

LEANDER, TEXAS - It was the breakdown point in Friday's game. The situation where the game has gotten so far out of hand that the men on the field come off adrenaline and start goofing around, the high school bands play 'hey band,' the cheerleaders run all over the place and parents release their little children to run around with their own football in the concourses.

Texas Tech athlete commit and Leander first-year full-time quarterback Caleb Woodward didn't change demeanor though. Woodward only has one mode.

No, Woodward isn't that super intense team leader who drives the team with booming commands. He's just Caleb -- a smart and talented player but extremely laid back and thoughtful person.

Regardless of how Woodward finishes his senior year and how he pans out at Tech, Leander High School fans will like him. Red Raider fans will too. Even the Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson Hawks, who were on the wrong end of a 36-0 beat down Friday, like him.
