Forbes impressed by Iowa

Texas forward Jackson Forbes has one official visit down and four to go. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Forbes made his first trip to Iowa over the weekend to learn more about the Hawkeyes, who offered him a scholarship in July. The Class of 2014 prospect left town on Sunday impressed by the Iowa coaching staff and the program they are building in Iowa City.

"I loved it," said Forbes. "They have a great coaching staff from the head coach down to all of the assistants. The players were very welcoming and made me feel like family right away. It was a really good time."

Forbes' host for the weekend was sophomore point guard Mike Gesell, who showed him around campus and introduced him to the rest of current Hawkeyes, who are close knit group according to the high school senior.

"We had a get together with the team and the coaches and their families at Coach McCaffery's house, which allowed me to spend some time really bonding with the guys," Forbes said. "There's no doubt that it's a family atmosphere they have going there."
