Adams commits to LSU
LSU received another significant piece to its secondary of the future.
Jamal Adams of Lewisville, Texas - the nation's No. 3 safety and No. 35 overall player - committed to LSU over Florida on Thursday afternoon and further bolstered a secondary recruiting class during the Under Armour All-American game.
"I'm going to be attending LSU," Adams said during his live television announcement. "I just felt more comfortable there. The opportunity at LSU is there for me.
"I'm ready to go win some national championships."
Adams, a Rivals100 member, joins close friend Ed Paris Jr., a cornerback of Mansfield (Texas) Timberview High, safety John Battle of Hallandale, Fla. and athlete Devin Voorhies of Woodville (Miss.) Wilkinson County in providing LSU with terrific top-end talent and depth in the secondary.
Adams proved to be a versatile defender during his four-year career at Hebron, which went 8-4 this past season.
Adams, whose father George Adams played running back for five seasons in the NFL, totaled 75 tackles, broke up four passes and had two quarterback hurries.
He also totaled 1,092 yards and 15 TDs from scrimmage with 17 catches for 459 yards and 9 TDs, 18 carries for 214 yards and 5 TDs and 12 kickoff returns for a 35-yard average - including a 103-yard return for a score.
