Class of 2019 tight end Billy Riviere had a chance to make his first visit with the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday. For the 6-foot-4, 230-pound junior from Wayzata High School in Plymouth, MN, it was an eye opening experience as he got an inside look at the Iowa football program.

“The day at Iowa started off in the Hansen Football Center where I got to walk past all the trophies and then eat lunch overlooking the Kinnick Stadium,” said Riviere. “Then they took us all on a trip through the complex and it was mind blowing to see facilities like that.”

“The facilities were unrivaled by any other school I have been to,” Riviere continued. “Just walking through the weight room with my dad, we just looked at each other and started laughing because of how insanely beautiful the facilities were.”

“Then we made our way over to the stadium for warmups and saw the crowd flood in from all the gates.”

During pre-game warm-ups, Riviere caught up with lead recruiter Tim Polasek, who remains in close contact with the Class of 2019 prospect.

“I mostly talked with Coach Polasek and he gave me the rundown of the team and then we mostly just talked about how my season went and future plans,” Riviere said.

Despite Iowa’s 24-15 loss to Purdue on Saturday, Riviere was impressed with the game day atmosphere at Kinnick Stadium.

“My overall impression of the game was I was amazed to see the stadium packed in weather like that,” said Riviere. “Growing up in Minnesota, rarely would you ever experience that many fans going to a game. Then having the weather like that just makes it that much more impressive to see the fan base showing up.”

The November trip to Iowa will probably be Riviere’s last visit of the season, but there will be more ahead for the Class of 2019 prospect as he goes through the recruiting process over the next year.

“I think that was my last game day visit of the year,” Riviere said. “I was really impressed with all three of the schools I took game day visits to this year, which was Minnesota, Iowa State and Iowa.”

“I think Iowa was a great way to finish it off,” he continued. “I hope to be back soon."
