Class of 2021 in-state tight end Andrew Lentsch plans to visit for Iowa's junior day on March 1.

Dowling Catholic tight end Andrew Lentsch has visited two Division I colleges and has plans in the near future to get back to Iowa City.

“I’m planning on going back to Iowa (on March 1st) and to South Dakota State for junior day visits.”

Lentsch mentioned the two main things that he will be focused on while at the University of Iowa.

“I’m just trying to see the facilities again and gain a better bond with all the coaches.”

The Hawkeye staff has continued to stay in touch with Lentsch on the recruiting front.

“I’ve been in contact with Coach Niemann and I’ve gotten invites to their summer camp, spring practices, and junior day.”

Lentsch, who had the Iowa coaches evaluate him at his school recently, talked about the one area of feedback that he is working on.

“Not too much except that I need to keep putting on weight.”

Lentsch has a lot of positives to say about the Hawkeyes as they were a program he has followed growing up.

“I love the Iowa program. I grew up a fan and I always have had respect for the culture and program they have developed.”

A wide range of coaches throughout the Midwest are following Lentsch and his improvements over the off-season.

“Iowa, South Dakota, SDSU, Indiana State, Kansas State, Iowa State, and UNI.”

Lentsch has plans to see a number of those schools up close during the summer camp circuit.

“Iowa, North Dakota State, Kansas State, South Dakota State, and maybe a few others.”

His junior year of football ended with Lentsch and his teammates winning yet another Class 4A crown at the high school level.

“It went super well," said Lentsch. "We won another state championship, which is always the main goal, but we really came together as a unit towards the end and played good football.”
