Andries returns to Iowa City

Class of 2017 offensive lineman Blaise Andries has picked up three scholarship offers this fall and visited several colleges, including the Iowa Hawkeyes for a second time this past weekend. We caught up with the 6-foot-6, 290-pound Minnesota native to get his thoughts on the trip, what he heard from the Iowa coaching staff, the latest on his recruiting, and much more.

Q: Can you take us through what all you got to do at Iowa on Saturday?

ANDRIES: I had a basketball scrimmage that morning, so we got there at around five. After that, we toured the facility until six. Then we were on the field until kickoff where we got to talk with some coaches. Next, we watched a great game. Afterwards, I got to see Floyd in the locker room.

Q: What did you think of the night game and the atmosphere?

ANDRIES: It was a great atmosphere and game, I really liked the blackout uniforms. The atmosphere was one of the best I've experienced.

Q: Which coaches did you get to talk with and what was their message?

ANDRIES: I chatted briefly with Coach Brian Ferentz and Coach Wallace before the game. After the game in the locker room, I spoke with Coach Morgan. He mentioned that they would be up in Marshall sometime this winter to watch a basketball game.

Q: What are your overall thoughts on Iowa at this point?

ANDRIES: I'm very interested in the Hawkeyes. I really like the football program, staff, and educational opportunities that Iowa would provide.

Q: What offers do you have right now and how big was it to get those first ones this fall?

ANDRIES: I currently have offers from Northwestern, Illinois, and Kansas. I was very grateful to receive the early offers.

Q: Where all have you visited this season and where do you go next?

ANDRIES: I've visited Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan State, and Northwestern. I cannot make it to anymore game days because of my basketball schedule. I'm hoping to find time to visit Northwestern, Illinois, Minnesota, Kansas, and Notre Dame this winter.
