Angerer Busy With Junior Day Visits

Bettendorf, Iowa linebacker Pat Angerer has kept himself busy the past few weeks with junior day visits to two Big Ten programs in the month of February. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound junior will also make a trip to Ames this coming weekend to meet with the coaching staff at Iowa State, who extended a scholarship offer to him in mid February.

Hawkeye Report caught up with Angerer this week for an update on his recruiting.

“I just got back from Wisconsin's junior day and I really liked it,” said Angerer. “The new renovations they are making are great. The coaches are all really nice and Wisconsin is one of my top choices. Their program is going in the right direction.”

Wisconsin was the second Big Ten school that Angerer visited in February, as he made a trip to Iowa City for Iowa's first junior day of the year earlier in the month.

“Iowa's junior day went really well,” Angerer said. “I got a chance to talk to (Iowa 2005 commit) Alex Kanellis and he's a great guy.”

Angerer continued, “Iowa's facilities are great and the coaches are business like. I talked to Norm Parker and he's a great guy. He's really straight forward and I like that.”

Iowa State offered a scholarship to Angerer a little over two weeks ago and the Cyclones are next on his list of visits with a trip to Ames scheduled for this Sunday.

“The recruiting with Iowa State is going well,” said Angerer. “They are also up there as one of my top choices. The coaches are just so easy to talk to and are really cool. I'm planning on going up to their junior day on Sunday.”

Following his 2003 season at Bettendorf, Angerer was the only junior in the state to be named to the Des Moines Register's Elite All State team. On his way to earning those honors, he recorded 114 solo tackles, 83 assists, and 26 tackles for a loss with nine sacks. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Angerer has been timed at 4.58 in the forty and bench presses 280 pounds. He also currently carries a 3.0 grade point average.

In addition to Iowa, Wisconsin, and Iowa State, Angerer has also heard from Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan State, and Indiana at this point. With several colleges showing early interest, including already landing an offer from Iowa State, and several postseason honors to his name, we asked Angerer what factors would ultimately play a role in making his decision.

“The major factors in my decision will be a place where I feel comfortable and at home,” said Angerer. “A place where I'll never get home sick.”
