Big Ten Best Bets

Time to place your bets on the Big Ten games this weekend.
Time to place your bets on the Big Ten games this weekend.

Slowly we have climb out of our early season hole and gotten to the.500 mark on the season.

Now the goal is to get over the .500 mark against the spread and there’s no better weekend to do it than Thanksgiving weekend when we are really focused on football games.

As far as the Big Ten this season, what a mess. Wisconsin, who lost last weekend, is now not eligible for the Big Ten West title after their game with Minnesota was called off due to an outbreak on the Gophers roster. Remember last weekend when the Gophers stole a win against Purdue, they were down 20 plus players, so seeing the game called off shouldn’t be a surprise.

Then we have traditional powers, Penn State and Michigan, schedule to faceoff in a pillow fight in Ann Arbor this weekend. Usually that game has Big Ten title implications. This year, no one cares.

So, let’s take a look at the record so far.

STRAIGHT UP: 17-13

AGAINST THE SPREAD: 15-15

OVER/UNDER: 13-17

FRIDAY

Nebraska at Iowa

Iowa is a 13.5 point favorite with an over/under of 52.5

We will have our pick in this game on Thursday in our game preview. Cornhuskers are 1-3 against the spread. Iowa has covered in the last three games.

SATURDAY

Ohio State at Illinois

The Buckeyes are a 28.5 point favorite with an over/under of 70.5

Wow, that’s a big number on the over/under. Illini have covered their last two games and gone under in three of the last four. Ohio State hasn’t covered in their last two games and they have gone over the number in three of their four games. OHIO STATE 49 ILLINOIS 24

Maryland at Indiana

Indiana is a 12 point favorite with an over/under of 62.5

The Terps have covered in their last two games. Indiana is 5-0 against the spread and have gone over in four of their five games. Why mess with the trend in this one? INDIANA 42 MARYLAND 24

Penn State at Michigan

Michigan is a 2 point favorite with an over/under of 58.5

You have to be brave or a degenerate to bet either of these teams. Penn State is 0-5 against the spread. Michigan is 1-4 against the spread with their only cover being the opening win over the Gophers. The Wolverines have gone over the total in four of five games. MICHIGAN 31 PENN STATE 28

Northwestern at Michigan State

The Boilermakers have failed to cover the spread in their last three games and gone under the total in three of their four games. Rutgers has gone over the number in four of their five games.
