Broughton ready to visit Iowa

Texas defensive end Braylon Broughton, who gave a soft commitment to Iowa earlier this year, will make an official visit to Iowa City this weekend. HawkeyeReport.com caught up with the 6-foot-6, 240-pound Broughton for the latest on his recruiting.

"I'm going to Iowa this weekend," said Broughton. "When I committed, I told them I was going to keep it open and they said I can go out and visit other colleges. They're cool with it."

Last weekend, Broughton made the first of those visits, as he took a trip to Kansas. He also has plans to make two or three more visits in the month of January.

"I cancelled Iowa State (originally scheduled for 12/16), but on January 13, I go to Arizona," Broughton said. "After that, I'll go to Oklahoma State or Arkansas."

Broughton, who attends Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas, gave Iowa the soft commitment back in September.

"They were one of the first colleges that came to recruit me and it was the best program that offered me early," said Broughton.

In the past couple weeks, Broughton has received several in-home visits, including one from the Iowa coaching staff.

"They came the first Monday in December," Broughton said. "Coach Aiken told me what they have to offer me, how the program is, and things like that."

With several visits remaining, including his first trip ever to Iowa City this weekend, Broughton talked a little bit about what he is looking for in a school when he goes to make that final decision.

"What I've told myself is, wherever I feel the most comfortable, that's where I'm going to go," said Broughton. "Whatever I feel in my heart, that's what I'm going to go with."

Stay tuned to HawkeyeReport.com this weekend, as we will follow up with Braylon Broughton after his official visit to Iowa.
