Clark excited about Iowa offer

Class of 2018 running back Saybein Clark added an offer from Iowa tonight.

After practice today, talented Class of 2018 running back Saybein Clark was asked to get in contact with the Iowa coaching staff. When the 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior from Sioux City Heelan made the call, the Hawkeyes had some big news for him.

"My head coach, Jerry Steffen, told me I was to contact Coach Kirk Ferentz tonight, so he gave me his number," said Clark. "I had no idea it was going to come down to this going into the phone call, but he told me it was a great honor that I was able to get in contact with him and said that I held an offer at their school."

Overall, it is the second offer for Clark with his first coming from Iowa State back in April, but the Class of 2018 prospect says it is a feeling you never get used to really.

"I came in not knowing that they would offer me, so I was completely stunned for a minute," Clark said. "I was so shocked that I almost choked on my own saliva at first. Then I just had the biggest smile on my face."

Clark, who attended Iowa's camp in June, plans to be back in Iowa City for the in-state rivalry game between the Hawkeyes and the Cyclones on September 10.

Along with Iowa and Iowa State, he is also hearing from Nebraska, Oregon, and Cincinnati, among others.

Last year, as a sophomore, Clark finished the season with 239 carries for 1,666 yards and 19 touchdowns in leading Heelan to an 8-2 record.

This past weekend, the junior had 75 yards in Heelan's 23-7 win over Sioux City East in their season opener.
