After a strong sophomore year that saw him finish with 26 catches for 607 yards and seven touchdowns, wide receiver Jonathan Mann already has major college interest including scholarship offers from Iowa and Iowa State. This weekend, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound Minnesota native was able to make the drive down to Iowa City for a junior day visit with the Hawkeyes on Saturday.

“We started off with introductions to some of the coaches, the prospects, and the academic director,” said Mann. “Then we broke up by position and met with our respective coaches, which was a very important part to me because it allowed for some great opportunities to ask more specific questions. Finally, we had the privilege to try on the uniforms and have a mini photo shoot, which was a lot of fun.”

In his conversations with the coaches, the Class of 2020 prospect said he felt very comfortable and got all of his questions about Iowa answered on Saturday.

“I was blessed with the opportunity to talk with almost every coach, including head coach Kirk Ferentz and wide receivers coach Kelton Copeland for a little bit,” Mann said. “They were both two of the most down-to-Earth men you could ever talk to. Both gave my parents and I opportunities to express any questions or possible concerns about the University of Iowa before filling in us on anything else. Most of the conversation was centered around the near future and things that I could continue to do and things I could work on during camps this summer.”

Leaving Iowa City on Saturday, Mann said that he was impressed with the coaching stability at Iowa and the success they have had over the years under Kirk Ferentz.

“My impression of Iowa was that they are a well-established program that often experiences success,” said Mann. “They’ve done it before, are still doing it, and are set up to do it in the future.”

Up next will be another Big Ten visit for the Class of 2020 prospect a week from now when Mann will get a chance to learn more about Minnesota, who has yet to offer so far.

“Next weekend, God blessed me with a chance to be able to visit my hometown school, the University of Minnesota, which just like before any other visit I am very excited for,” Mann said. “After that, if God blesses me with an opportunity to visit anywhere else, I will most likely check out that school as soon as possible.”
