Pella safety Noah Clayberg has accepted a grayshirt offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes.

When Iowa extended a grayshirt offer to Pella safety Noah Clayberg a week ago, he was not quite sure what to think of the opportunity at first. But after an official visit to Iowa City over the weekend, the 5-foot-11, 202-pound Clayberg decided that was the direction he wanted to go and committed to the Hawkeyes on Sunday.

"After visiting there, it was clear to me that it was where I was supposed to be," said Clayberg. "I couldn't pass up on the opportunity."

"Now I get to live my dream, even if I have to wait a semester more, and do it with some of my good friends and play for a great team."

Clayberg, who will enroll at Iowa in January of 2017, will get a chance to join high school teammates Austin Schulte and Garret Jansen with the Hawkeyes.

The Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Iowa, he chose the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from South Dakota, South Dakota State, and Western Illinois.

As a dual-threat quarterback for Pella, Clayberg put up huge numbers on offense this past season, throwing for 1,695 yards and 21 touchdowns and rushing for 1,846 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also finished with 44 tackles, 10 TFL, and an interception on defense.

Over the past two years, Clayberg led Pella to a 28-0 record and back to back state championships in Class 3A.
