Coker granted release

IOWA CITY, IOWA - The University of Iowa announced today that sophomore running back Marcus Coker has withdrawn his application to enroll in spring semester classes. Coker also asked for a release from his football scholarship and that request has been granted.
This past season, Coker rushed for 1,384 yards and 15 touchdowns, earning All Big Ten honors. Following the regular season, Coker was suspended for the 2011 Insight Bowl for a violation of the student conduct policy.

In his freshman season, Coker emerged from a collarbone injury to rush for 622 yards and three touchdowns. He also earned MVP honors in the 2010 Insight Bowl when he rushed for 219 yards against Missouri.
