Corrales makes the call

Texas wide receiver Beau Corrales is going to be a Hawkeye. After picking up a scholarship offer from the Iowa coaching staff this month and visiting campus over the weekend, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Corrales made the call today and committed.

“I've been doing a lot of thinking on it and Iowa has everything that I need to be successful,” said Corrales. “Plus, I have friends like Gavin Holmes and Peyton Mansell going there, so that's hard to beat.”

“Knowing that that’s where I want to be, it just seems unnecessary to keep my recruiting open any longer,” he continued. “I know Iowa is where I want to be.”

Corrales, who originally committed to Texas State, saw his recruiting take off after Georgetown’s season opener, which saw him catch 15 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns. Iowa quickly offered a scholarship, followed by Indiana, with interest also coming in from Wisconsin, Kansas State, and several others.

This past weekend, Corrales and his family made an unofficial visit to Iowa City, where they toured the campus and the facilities and watched the Hawkeyes beat the Cyclones 42-3 at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday night.

“It’s definitely something special,” Corrales said of Iowa City. “Their facilities are incredible and I absolutely love how supportive the fans are of everything and everyone.”

Overall, Corrales is commitment No. 17 for the Iowa coaching staff in the Class of 2017 and the 6th from the state of Texas as he joins Eno Benjamin, Chevin Calloway, Gavin Holmes, Peyton Mansell, and Matt Hankins.

“I know how excited Iowa is to have this pipeline from Texas and I'm grateful that I get to be a part of this movement,” said Corrales. “It means a lot to me.”

Through his first three games, Corrales has 32 catches for 365 yards and five touchdowns for Georgetown High School this season.
