Donahue named Ray Guy semifinalist

IOWA CITY, IA - University of Iowa punter Ryan Donahue has been named one of 10 semi-finalists for the 2009 Ray Guy Award, which goes annually to the nation's top collegiate punter. The announcement was made today by the Augusta Sports Council.
Donahue is a 6-3, 180-lb. junior from Evergreen Park, IL. He is averaging 42.2 yards on 45 punts, with 22 punts inside the 20 and just five touchbacks. Hawkeye opponents have 17 punt returns for 75 net yards, as Iowa ranks 12th in the nation in punt return defense (4.4). He has at least one punt of at least 50 yards in 16 of Iowa's last 21 games. Donahue holds three of the 10 longest punts (82, 76 and 73 yards) in school history.

A national voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) coaches, sports information directors, national media, and former Ray Guy Award winners will decide the three finalists, who will be named on November 23. Voters will then cast a second round of ballots to decide the winner.
The winner of the 10th Ray Guy Award will be announced live on ESPN during the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards show on December 10th.
