Earlier this month, the Iowa Hawkeyes hosted a big group of recruits for their night game against Michigan. Among those in attendance that watched Iowa's last second win over the Wolverines were three teammates from Detroit Jesuit High School in Scott Nelson, Elijah Collins, and Carlos Vettorello.

The Hawkeyes have been after Nelson, a Class of 2017 safety, for some time now, and on Tuesday decided to enter the race for 2018 prospects Collins and Vettorello as well. Iowa defensive coordinator Phil Parker officially offered the two during a visit to their school this morning, according to Detroit Jesuit coach Oscar Olejniczak.

"Coach Parker said that Carlos has good size and footwork and likes that he could play a number of positions on offensive line," said Olejniczak. "He also said he is the type of person they want at Iowa."

For the 6-foot-4, 270-pound Vettorello, it is his eighth offer overall, as the Hawkeyes join Iowa State, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, Toledo, and Ohio on his list.

Collins, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect, now holds offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Toledo, and Central Michigan, and could play on either side of the ball in college.

"Coach Parker said Elijah is very explosive," Olejniczak said. "He likes him at WILL linebacker or safety, but could see him also playing running back."

"Again, he said he is the type of person they want at Iowa," he continued. "He is looking forward to getting to know them better over the spring and summer."
