Class of 2018 defensive tackle Noah Shannon picked up his first scholarship offer today, which came from the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-2, 285-pound Shannon received the news after Iowa assistant coach Brian Ferentz stopped by his high school in Oswego, IL this morning.

"I'm very thankful and humbled that Coach Brian Ferentz offered me," said Shannon. "I didn't think he was going to going down to my coach's office, so I was surprised when he said he was offering me. It's feels great that all the hard work has finally paid off."

The offer from Iowa comes after an impressive junior season at Oswego that saw Shannon rack up 56 tackles, 13 TFL, 3.5 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles this fall.

"It lifts a lot of weight off my shoulders because people would always ask me when my first offer was going to come and why I haven't been offered yet and I'd respond to them I just have to be patient," Shannon said. "So it's an exciting feeling."

On November 12, Shannon made an unofficial visit to Iowa City where he watched the Hawkeyes upset No. 2 ranked Michigan on a last second field goal at Kinnick Stadium.

"I loved it," said Shannon. "I liked everything there, especially the new football building they just built. The game was great and the atmosphere was crazy."

Along with Iowa, Shannon is also receiving interest from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Northern Illinois, among others.
