Hawkeyes land Tampa cornerback Jordan Oladokun

Tampa Gaither cornerback Jordan Oladokun is going to be a Hawkeye. A three-star prospect, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Oladokun has not had a chance to visit Iowa City yet, but after a virtual tour and some in-depth conversations with the Hawkeye coaching staff he felt comfortable giving an early commitment to Iowa.

"It’s a great school," Oladokun told HawkeyeReport.com. "I can get the academic part done and be able to play for one of the best programs in the nation."

"I just love how they run everything," said Oladokun. "They’re a big time school that believes in winning and great academics."

In March, Oladokun narrowed his list of 26 scholarship offers down to a top seven of Iowa, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati. Other offers included Iowa State, Kansas, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, Louisville, Indiana, Syracuse, South Florida, and Marshall, among others.

Oladokun is currently scheduled to make an official visit to Iowa on June 19 with high school teammate Ricky Parks. The Hawkeyes are also recruiting defensive back Jordan Young from Tampa Gaither as well.

"They’re my teammates now at Gaither, so I’m going to try to get them up there with me," Oladokun said.

Overall, Oladokun is commitment No. 9 for the Hawkeyes in 2021, as he joins Cooper DeJean, Jeff Bowie, Zach Twedt, Griffin Liddle, Justice Sullivan, Connor Colby, Jaden Harrell, and Gennings Dunker in the Iowa's recruiting class.

As a junior, Oladokun finished the season with 20 tackles and two interceptions on defense to go along with 28 catches for 532 yards and six touchdowns on offense and had 380 return yards and a touchdown on special teams as well.
