Class of 2018 linebacker Jack Sanborn picked up a scholarship offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes this past weekend. For the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Illinois native the offer came after a visit to campus in Iowa City where he had a chance to sit down and talk with the Iowa coaching staff.

"After Coach Wallace and Coach Brian Ferentz visited my high school school (in May) they told me that they wanted me to come over for a visit, so yesterday I went over there," said Sanborn. "I sat down to talk with Coach Wallace and Coach Doyle, who is the strength and conditioning coach, in private with my mom and then we met with Coach Kirk Ferentz."

"We talked for a while and he got to know who me and my family are," he continued. "Then he told me how they wanted to offer me a scholarship to the University of Iowa and he wanted me to be a Hawkeye. When I heard that, I was very excited and thankful."

"I have grown up my whole life in the Midwest watching Big Ten football and to get my first offer from a Big Ten school, I was extremely grateful."

Overall, it is the second offer for Sanborn as Iowa joins Iowa State on his list. Other schools showing interest early on include Illinois, Northwestern, and Purdue.
