Hawkeyes offer Class of 2019 LB

The Iowa Hawkeyes are the latest team to offer talented Class of 2019 linebacker Shammond Cooper. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound St. Louis native received the news from lead recruiter LeVar Woods on Saturday.

"We were at the United Showcase and Coach Woods called my coach, so I got on the phone with him and he told me they'll like to offer me a scholarship," said Cooper. "I was excited over it because I've been watching Iowa closely over the past few years, so for them to come after me felt good.

"It's a great school and I hope to get up there to visit soon," he continued.

Overall, Iowa is offer No. 11 for Cooper as the Hawkeyes join LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Illinois, Iowa State, Syracuse, Memphis, Bowling Green, and Northern Illinois on his list.

"It's a great feeling, but I have to remain humble and keep working hard," Cooper said.
