Hawks land versatile in-state prospect

After an impressive senior season, Cedar Rapids Kennedy tight end Shaun Beyer finally got the offer that he was looking for. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Beyer visited the Iowa coaching staff this morning and by the time headed home, the Class of 2016 prospect had a Hawkeye offer in hand and officially gave his verbal pledge.
Beyer announced his commitment on Twitter shortly after wrapping up his visit to Iowa City.

Originally a North Dakota State commit, Beyer drew offers from both Iowa and Nebraska this fall after a standout season that saw him haul in 43 receptions for 853 yards and 11 touchdowns and rush for 681 yards and five scores on the ground as well. This week, he was named the captain of the all-state team in Class 4A after leading Kennedy to a 13-1 record.
Overall, Beyer is the 24th prospect to commit to the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2016 and the 5th from inside state borders.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect is currently listed as an athlete on Iowa's board and has the ability to play tight end, linebacker, or defensive end in college.
