Hitchens getting closer to a decision

Ohio prospect Anthony Hitchens has not been one to rush things during the recruiting process and he is not about to start now even as December comes to a close. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Hitchens still has the same scholarship offers, but there is one school that he appears to be waiting on at the moment.

"I still haven't made my decision yet," said Hitchens. "I've been talking to Coach Phil Parker from Iowa a lot and they haven't officially offered yet, but he said it's pretty much a given. They're going to wait until I make my official visit sometime in January though."

Currently, Hitchens holds scholarship offers from Kansas, Indiana, and Eastern Michigan. Iowa is the school that has captured his attention though ever since an unofficial visit to watch the Hawkeyes play in Kinnick Stadium in late October.

"I like it a lot down at Iowa," Hitchens said. "I got to meet some of the players and the coaches and they're all good people, and I like the facilities too. If I get that offer, I'm probably going to sign there."

As a senior, Hitchens earned a number of honors after rushing for 1,428 yards and 21 touchdowns in leading Clearview High School to an 8-2 record. While he finished with nearly 4,000 yards rushing and 50 touchdowns in his career, most of his recruiting attention has come on the defensive side of the ball, including the interest from Iowa.

"Iowa is talking to me about playing safety," said Hitchens. "It doesn't really matter to me. I just want to play."

Hitchens currently plans to make his college decision by late January.
