Hulett walking on at Iowa
Springville defensive Jake Hulett is going to play college football at the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Hulett, who was a first team all-state selection his senior year, made the call on Monday night to accept a walk-on opportunity with the Hawkeyes.
"I called Coach Morgan last night and I committed," said Hulett. "It was a tough decision, but I think Iowa is the best fit for me."

The other football program that Hulett was considering was the Drake Bulldogs, but after visiting both in-state schools over the past month, he decided that he wanted a chance to play at the FBS level, especially for the Hawkeyes.
"I just feel like it's a great opportunity and one that I can't pass up," Hulett said. "Plus it's been my dream, so I want to go live it and see how far I can go as a player."
Playing eight-man football at Springville, Hulett did a little bit of everything in high school, playing defensive end, linebacker, quarterback, tight end, and fullback in his career.
As a senior, Hulett finished with 102 tackles, 26 TFL, and 11 sacks on defense plus 581 yards receiving, 129 yards rushing, and 13 touchdowns on offense. Iowa projects him at defensive end in college.
