East Buchanan offensive lineman Taylor Fox is now one step closer to living his dream after accepting a walk-on opportunity at the University of Iowa. We caught up with the 6-foot-3, 265-pound Fox to discuss his decision, his future with the Hawkeyes, and much more.

Q: What sold you on taking an opportunity to walk-on at Iowa?

FOX: Playing football has always been a dream of mine and having the opportunity to do so is awesome.

Q: What stood out most about Iowa during the recruiting process?

FOX: I just really like all the people there. It is close to home, so location is also really awesome. I’ve been to a lot of Iowa games and football camps there as well and I really like the facilities.

Q: When did the official walk-on opportunity come from the Iowa coaches?

FOX: About a week ago and then confirmed it over the weekend.

Q: Which coach extended the opportunity and what was your first reaction when you heard it?

FOX: Coach Polasek was the one who offered me the opportunity and I was on cloud nine when he told me.

Q: After the opportunity came, what was your process to come to a final decision? Did you know it was a matter of time before you accepted it?

FOX: To be completely honest, I think I had my answer before I even hung up the phone when I got the offer. When I found out one of my dreams was about to become a reality, I was pumped but I still talked it over with my parents and let them know what I was thinking.

Q: Was there any thought to wait it out or did you and your parents know that this was the place for you?

FOX: Nope, they knew this is what I always wanted and supported me 100%.

Q: How important were the Iowa coaches in your final decision?

FOX: I really like being around the coaches and I can’t wait to be a part of their program.

Q: What really sold you on Iowa during the visits you were able to make in recent weeks?

FOX: I really like the facilities that they have and the atmosphere in Kinnick was incredible.

Q: What coach did you commit to and what was their reaction?

FOX: Coach Polasek and I think he was pretty excited.

Fox chose the walk-on opportunity at Iowa over scholarship offers from Wayne State, Augustana, and Sioux Falls.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound offensive lineman is Iowa's first walk-on commit in the Class of 2019.
