In-state offensive lineman Burke Prins caught the eye of the Iowa coaching staff at their camp over the summer and stayed on their radar his senior year. This weekend, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound Prins made an official visit to Iowa City, which ended with him accepting a preferred walk-on opportunity with the Hawkeyes. We caught up with the Hinton native to find out more.

Q: How was your official at Iowa?

PRINS: It was a really great visit. I really liked everything about. we did a lot this weekend and it was great.

Q: What did you get an opportunity to do?

PRINS: We ate a lot there. We checked out Kinnick stadium and the student athlete center. Then we checked out the weight room and all the facilities. We saw all of the facilities there.

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

PRINS: I got to talk to all the coaches and I got to talk with Coach Ferentz. I liked that part.

Q: What was your status as a recruit?

PRINS: They wanted me as a preferred walk-on. A little while ago I got talking to Coach Morgan and I decided that is where I'm going.

Q: Why did you pick Iowa?

PRINS: On the visit, it felt like a really good fit and I like the Hawkeyes. I have really wanted to play for them and play Division I football. That is really why.

Q: What other schools were being considered?

PRINS: Some of the others were Iowa Western, Morningside, SDSU, and Mankato.

Q: Where do they see you are position wise?

PRINS: They want me to play offensive line there.

Q: Do you know where on the line?

PRINS: I'd say it is tackle because that is where I've always played.

Q: How big are you now size wise?

PRINS: Right now I'm 6-foot-4, 260 pounds.

Q: What did the coaches say about you as a recruit?

PRINS: They just like that I was a tough guy. That is what they saw at camp. They thought I was really coachable and a hard worker.

Q: What was the reaction of Coach Morgan when you committed?

PRINS: He said that he was pretty excited and was really glad that I was coming to play.
