Rushing for over 2,000 yards and racking up 45 tackles was enough for Harlan running back Nick Foss to catch the eye of the Iowa Hawkeyes as a senior.

“It just recently picked up a little bit," said Foss. "My head coach got in contact with Coach Morgan. He said that they had been following me, but it is starting right now. Hopefully we can build on it.”

Foss unsure where his college position will be but is happy to do whatever his coaches need him to do.

“I am not really exactly," Foss said. "It is probably running back but I told them I could play wherever they put me.”

The Iowa program is one that Foss has high praise for.

“I have liked them a lot," he said. "They always have a solid team. They have a lot of kids from Iowa that are hard workers. They get people that know how to get the job done. Coach Ferentz is a great coach.”

Foss was able to see the program up close on Saturday for his first game day trip in Iowa City.

“It was good," said Foss. "Everything went good. The facilities are super nice, but I kind of expected that. It was a good day overall. I got a chance to meet the coaches and that was good for me.”

His time with the Hawkeyes allowed Foss to learn more about being part of the program.

“We got there at 11:30 and had a little meal," Foss said. "Then we got to go check out the players' lounge, the weight room, and the indoor practice facility. There were some other things that they showed us in the football building.”

Foss had one part of the trip that he would consider his highlight.

“I really liked seeing the weight room because I like weight rooms I guess," he said. "Just seeing all the stuff that they have is really impressive. The atmosphere that they have is pretty unique.”

A wide range of other Division I and II programs have Foss on their radar.

“Iowa State, Minnesota State, Augustana, Wayne State, Northwest Missouri State, USD, UNI, and that type of school.”

Foss has scholarships to sort through as well.

“I have three offers from Mankato, Augustana, and Wayne State.”

A division preference is something that Foss does not have at this point.

“I just want to go to the next level and be able to go as big as I can to be successful," said Foss. "I want to find the best situation.”

Foss knows if he received a preferred walk-on opportunity it would be looked at before he ended the recruiting process.

“I think I’d have to really think about it," Foss said. "I would have to think about the choices I have to make and what would put me into the best position.”
