After his latest visit to the University of Iowa, safety Djimon Colbert has decided to call Iowa City his home for college. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound Colbert announced his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes today shortly after leaving campus for Iowa’s junior day.

“I am so blessed today to announce that I will continue my academic and football career after high school at the University of Iowa,” said Colbert in a prepared statement. “Being up in Iowa City today felt like home and I knew it is the place I had to be. I can’t wait to begin playing ball for all of the amazing people up in Iowa City.”

A three-star prospect out of Bishop Miege High School in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Colbert chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa State.

Colbert is the sixth recruit in the Class of 2017 to commit to the Iowa Hawkeyes, joining A.J. Epenesa, Jacob Coons, Tristan Wirfs, Coy Kirkpatrick, and Juan Harris.
