Iowa offers JUCO LB Will Honas

The Iowa Hawkeyes will have to replace all three starters at linebacker next year and are looking for a couple more recruits at the position in the Class of 2018. On Wednesday, the Iowa coaching staff made a new offer, their first in the junior college ranks, to Butler Community College linebacker Will Honas.

“Coach Wallace called me tonight and offered,” said Honas. “I’m very excited about it.”

“It’s a great program with really good linebackers traditionally,” Honas said.

Originally from Wichita, Honas is a sophomore at Butler Community College and on track to be a mid-year transfer, meaning he plans to enroll at a Division I school in January of 2018.

Currently, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker is considering scholarship offers from Iowa, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Cal, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, and Coastal Carolina.

Through eight games this season, Honas has racked up 65 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 3 sacks, and 2 interceptions. Butler’s schedule runs through November 11 and then the three-star prospect hopes to take some more college visits, including an official to Iowa.

“I’m planning on taking an official sometime after my season is over,” said Honas.
